  • Tonight in Gore with Larry Baldock – Tuesday 6 May 2008 7:30pm

    GORE – 6 May
    Tuesday 7.30pm
    Gore Baptist Centre
    23 Ardwick St,
    Gore

Hi everyone. We are greeting you from the Deep South at the moment. Barb and I are collecting signatures in the main street of Gore today. So far 60 in only 2 hours. Last night was chilly in Invercargill with 8 deg of frost as we slept in the campervan, but after collecting 120 yesterday afternoon in downtown Invercargill and then another 70 in an hour this morning, we are feeling warm all over! 🙂

The team from Hawkes Bay collected 998 at the women’s expo over the weekend and I know others were out in the rain collecting valuable signatures as well.
We will finish what we started!

You may have noticed that update no.26 was dated April instead of May. My mistake. What happened to April is all I can say!

So that means that the deadline for my petition is next week. Please send as many petitions as you can by Friday by post, and Monday by courier so our team can separate Sheryl’s petition from mine in time for them to be delivered to Parliament on Wednesday.

Can we do our best this week and this weekend to collect what we can. Thanks

    Warm regards,

    Larry

Report from Larry Baldock and coming events:

Hi everyone. There are some good reports coming in of collections over the weekend.

If you need a link to download the petition forms here it is.

This email is just to let you know where Barbara and I will be over the next few weeks.

I do not have all your addresses in this data base so I cannot separate out the email to go directly to these locations.

If these locations are near you we would look forward to seeing you with any friends you may be able to invite along to these meetings.

We will be able to share the latest on the petition, plus some encouraging developments for the Kiwi Party. We will also have a short 10 min video clip of some of the ‘team kiwi’ members for you to see and time for Q & A!

Some of the locations do not have details because venues are not finalised. If you can help organise some of these please contact me. Or if you want me to let you know the details when arranged please email me also.

Even if you do not live in these places perhaps you can email friends or relatives who may be interested.
    Thanks for your support.

    Warm regards,

    Larry

  • The Changing Ways of Schooling

Today Tonight on Channel 10 (This will only be up for a short time)

http://au.todaytonight.yahoo.com then click on The Changing Ways of Schooling – video on the right hand side of the page.

The basic gist of it being a comparison between 1968 and 2008. In 1968 a child caught shoplifting would be smacked and taken to the store to apologise and pay restitution, and would go on to become a productive member of society. In 2008 a child caught shoplifting would be smacked and taken to the store to apologise and pay restitution, and his parents
would be arrested, the child placed in welfare, and would go on to become involved in crime.

  • Fielding Fieldays and Wellington Dragon Boat Races

    Hi everyone,

Barbara and I will be at the fieldays tomorrow and Friday & Saturday. We will be joined by Stephen Jenkinsen on Saturday from Hawkes Bay. Depending on where we have the largest team, we might then head down to Wellington to help Gordon and Anne Copeland with collecting signatures at the Dragon Boat races.

On Thursday evening we will be showing the Movie Amazing Grace at the Foxton Gospel Chapel in the Main Street starting at 5.45pm. $6 admission. We will have a shared meal after the movie and I will speak about where to with the petition from here and why The Kiwi Party needs to succeed, followed by a Q&A session.

If you can help at Fieldays it would be appreciated, give me a call or email,

    Warm regards,

    Larry

  • From Family First-CIR Petition

    3 weeks to go

95% of the signatures required already collected

    Only 15,000 to go

Let’s not fail at the last hurdle!

The organisers of the two petitions demanding a Referendum on both the anti-smacking law and the need to target the real causes of child abuse need to deliver 300,000 signatures on BOTH petitions to Parliament by Feb 29 (last day of Feb).

Family First wants to help them achieve that target, and to make this issue not only the political issue of 2007 but also of 2008!

    Would you consider :

    1. Printing off the petition form containing the 2 petitions http://www.unityforliberty.net.nz/documents/CirPetition.pdf

    2. Getting as many signatures as you can on both petitions

    3. Sending them in to the address at the bottom of the petition form as soon as possible – but at the latest by Feb 22 . (Even forms only half filled should still be sent in as soon as)

We believe the politicians need to listen to the voice of the NZ public on this issue.

Thanks for your support. It has been a phenomenal effort.

    Kind regards

    Bob McCoskrie
    National Director

  • Christchurch this weekend

    Hi team,

Re: Petition for referendum on the Anti-Smacking law.

If you are free to help out with collecting signatures tomorrow, please let me know – by email, or phone: 03 357 4599 (or) 021 1140 751.
We’ll be meeting at the corner of Cashel St. and Colombo St. – and if there are enough people, will run 2 tables.

We really need volunteers at this time, as we’re getting close to the deadline and it’s touch and go as to whether we can make it or not.

    Coming Events

    Hi everyone,

Just a quick update for the team in Christchurch. (Auckland & Otago people, I’m forwarding this on to you also to keep you in the loop 🙂

We had a motivating meeting with Larry and Barbara Baldock on Monday night where we discussed plans for serving our community by gathering signatures for the referendum in Christchurch.

We were reminded that there are thousands of people out there who want to sign, it’s just up to us to go out there and put the petition in front of them so they can sign it.

We’re at 236,100 signatures currently (See the “signature thermometer” on the Unity for Liberty website for the most recent count).

This Saturday – come on guys, lets hit Christchurch with at least three tables. Lets go from about 9:30am til 2:30pm, with people most welcome to stay later if they like, but the best time is around the lunch-hour, when the city really gets bustling. I’ve got 3 tables, plenty of signs, plenty of petition boards and pens. We just need you guys now, so get back to me asap, as I need to book a couple of spots with the City Council.

Let’s get Saturday out of the way, and then we can plan for getting tables at the big events coming up in January and February.

Come on Canterbury, Let’s blow Auckland out of the water with our signature count for this Saturday! Auckland guys, the pressure is on!!!

Great to meet those that were at the meeting, thanks so much for coming along, keen to get involved!

Remember, “All that is necessary for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing” – Edmund Burke.”
